CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Running the national stage in her first cross country season, sophomore
Nikki Aleshire represented WVU Tech at the 2015 NAIA Women's Cross Country Championships at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday Morning. The Clay, West Virginia native is only the second woman to make it to nationals in program history.
Aleshire clocked a time of 19:33.4 to finish 172
nd out of 321 runners. The sophomore was one of 82 runners competing as an individual. She punched her ticket to nationals by finishing third at the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Championships November 7.
Northwest Christian claimed the women's title with 98 points to beat out British Columbia, the three-time defending champs, by 20 points. Kellian Hunt of Biola finished in 17:16.7 to earn the individual title and lead her team to a third place finish with 170 points. Rounding out the top five teams included Aquinas (184) and Carroll (223).
